Luciano Gonzalez

Professor Luciano Gonzalez holds the Nancy Roma Paech Chair in Sustainable Livestock Production at the University of Sydney's School of Life and Environmental Sciences. He is affiliated with the Sydney Institute of Agriculture and based at the Centre for Carbon, Water and Food. His career includes roles at CSIRO, University of Manitoba, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.

Education: BSc in Agronomic Engineering (Universidad Nacional de La Plata, Argentina), MSc and PhD in Animal Production (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Spain).

Research focuses on sustainable livestock systems, methane mitigation, precision agriculture, and livestock health. Key projects include lick-blocks for methane reduction, smart nutrition for ruminants, and remote sensing for grazingland management. Over 100 publications span journals like Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence and Journal of Dairy Science, with a focus on integrating technology into livestock production.
