Lucia Rotger Garcia

Dr. Lucia Rotger Garcia is an Assistant Professor at the University of the Balearic Islands, affiliated with the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science and the Department of Didactics of Mathematics. She has been in this role since 2012 following the completion of her Mathematics degree from the same institution in 2012.

Education: Lucia Rotger Garcia earned a Mathematics degree from the University of the Balearic Islands in 2012. This foundational degree prepared her for her academic career in mathematics education and computational biology research.

Research Interests: Her research focuses on Phylogenetics, Evolutionary Biology, and Computational Biology, with a particular emphasis on Bioinformatics applications. As a member of the BIOCOM research group, she applies mathematical methodologies to biological systems, exploring evolutionary patterns and computational models in biology.

Teaching: She has taught several courses, including Discrete Mathematics (targeted at Mathematics and Computer Science students) and Math II (for Biology degree programs). Her teaching bridges theoretical mathematics with practical applications in interdisciplinary fields.

Labs/Teams: She is part of the Computational Biology (BIOCOM) research group, dedicated to advancing computational methods in biological research.
