Giombini's research centers on eating disorders in youth and adults, with emphasis on Cognitive Remediation Therapy, Emotion Skills Training, social constructionism approaches, and the Environmental Sensitivity framework. Her recent publications show a clear trajectory toward existential and narrative approaches to anorexia nervosa treatment, particularly through Sartrean philosophy and externalizing conversations. The research demonstrates strong clinical translation with 80% of recent outputs derived from inpatient service evaluations.
She serves on the editorial advisory board of the European Eating Disorders Review Journal (2023-2026) and as Review Editor for Frontiers in Psychology's Eating Behaviour section (2023-2026).
Giombini's clinical work prioritizes therapeutic relationships as foundational to recovery, informed by her national research project with the Italian Ministry of Health on predictive dimensions of eating disorders. Her current focus includes applying social constructionism to family therapy and exploring environmental sensitivity in mental health conditions. She contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals through mental health research and clinical practice.
