Dr Lúcia Garrido is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at City St George's, University of London. She joined the institution in 2019, having previously served as a Lecturer and Senior Lecturer at Brunel University London (2013-2019), and worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard University (2010-2013).

Her research focuses on cognitive neuroscience, particularly the perceptual mechanisms underlying social interactions. She investigates how humans use facial and vocal cues for identity recognition, emotion inference, and social decision-making through behavioral and neuroimaging methods.
Dr Garrido has secured significant research funding, including a Leverhulme Trust Research Fellowship (2024-2025) for her project on information encoding in brain face-selective regions, and a Bial Foundation Grant (2015-2017) for studying facial/bodily temperature maps of emotions.
