Lucia Cerullo

Dr. Lucia Cerullo is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Helsinki, affiliated with the Centre of Excellence in Ancient Near Eastern Empires (ANEE) and the ERC-funded WORK-IT project. She holds a PhD in Asia, Africa, and the Mediterranean from the University of Naples 'L'Orientale'. Her research focuses on ancient Iran and the Southern Levant during the first millennium BCE, specializing in Elamite and Achaemenid metalworks, temple economics, and labor systems under the Persian Empire. She employs interdisciplinary methods combining archaeology, digital humanities, and epigraphy.

Research Interests: Elamite Iranian Archaeology, Persian Empire, Southern Levant Archaeology, Temple Economics, Second Temple Period, Achaemenid Studies, Digital Humanities. Her work explores material culture, settlement patterns, and resource management through archaeological and digital methodologies.

Projects: Active participant in the WORK-IT ERC project (2024–2029), investigating labor systems and temple economies in the Southern Levant under the Achaemenid Empire, funded by the European Research Council.
