Lucia Candelise is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Geneva, specializing in the historical and anthropological study of Chinese medical practices in Europe. Her work focuses on their transmission, adaptation, and integration within European medical contexts, particularly comparing Swiss reception with French and Italian frameworks.
- Affiliated with the SPHERE laboratory (UMR 7219, CNRS/Paris 7)
- Member of the Institute for the History of Medicine and Public Health (IUHMSP-CHUV), Lausanne
- Associated with CECMC (UMR 8173, EHESS/CNRS) and CETCOPRA (Paris 1 la Sorbonne)
Her research combines historical analysis with fieldwork, examining how medical knowledge evolves through cross-cultural interactions. She curated a thematic dossier on medical heritage in the journal Anthropologie & Santé (2013) and is currently working on a new publication addressing similar themes.
Her work intersects with global heritage dynamics, particularly in therapeutic resource reconfiguration, as demonstrated in her presentation at the ACHS 2016 conference titled "Patrimonialisation des savoirs médicaux: vers une reconfiguration des ressources thérapeutiques."
