Lucas Poy is an Assistant Professor in Global Economic and Social History at the Faculty of Humanities, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, and coordinator of the Honours Programme. His research focuses on labour history, socialism in the Global South, transnational connections, and global solidarities. He previously held roles at the University of Buenos Aires and was a senior researcher at Argentina’s CONICET. Poy is a fellow of the International Institute of Social History and editor of journals like International Review of Social History and Journal of Labor and Society.
He holds a PhD in History from the Universidad de Buenos Aires. His work spans monographs and articles on socialist movements in Latin America and the history of labour internationalism. Poy has organized international conferences and serves on boards such as NALACS. At VU Amsterdam, he teaches courses in History and International Studies, supervising bachelor, master, and RMA theses.
His research emphasizes the intersection of migration, socialism, and transnational solidarity, with projects like the Scope and Limits of Transnational Solidarities in the Global Labour Movement. Poy’s editorial roles and academic grants reflect a commitment to advancing labour history globally.
