Luca Chittaro is a Full Professor at the University of Udine, leading the Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) Lab. His research focuses on Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and their applications in healthcare, aviation safety, and mindfulness. He is recognized as one of the World's Top 2% Scientists (Stanford ranking) and authored the book Neuroscienze dello Yoga.
Chittaro heads the Department of Mathematics, Computer Science, and Physics at the University of Udine. His work bridges HCI with cyberpsychology, digital health, and serious games. He has secured grants from the US FAA for aviation safety research and collaborates with ICAO on digital learning for cabin crew.
Research interests include VR/AR applications for stress management, chronic pain relief, and emergency preparedness. Recent studies explore biofeedback in VR therapy, agent-based crowd simulations, and mobile health interventions. Chittaro also develops educational tools like the 'Prepare for Impact' serious game for aircraft evacuation training.
Notable awards include his Stanford ranking and contributions to ICAO's Cabin Crew Digital Learning initiatives. His lab investigates technologies like physiological computing, Tangible Interaction (e.g., TANGAEON), and exergames for rehabilitation.
