معرفی
Luca Bini is a Full Professor of Biochemistry and Proteome Sciences at the University of Siena, Italy, and Vice-Director of the Department of Life Sciences. He is a pioneer in proteome science, co-organizing the influential annual Siena Meeting From Genome to Proteome, where the term "proteome" was introduced in 1994. He is a founder of the European and Italian Proteomics Associations and serves on editorial boards of leading journals.
His research focuses on proteome analysis of clinical specimens (cells, biopsies, body fluids) under physio-pathological conditions, immune responses in infectious diseases and neurodegenerative disorders, and proteomic applications to plants and non-human systems. His recent publications highlight proteomic profiling in plant biology, fibrosis treatment, and cancer drug resistance mechanisms.
Key trends in his 2024-2025 articles include advancements in protein extraction techniques, PROTAC-based drug development, and agricultural applications of proteomics. He has contributed to understanding fibroblast modulation in lung disease and mechanisms of melanoma resistance to targeted therapies.
Additional roles include teaching Biological Chemistry at the University of Siena since 2020 and leading the Functional Proteomics Lab. Office hours are held every Tuesday from 09:00 to 10:00.
