Luc Y. Beaulieu

Luc Y. Beaulieu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics and Physical Oceanography at Memorial University of Newfoundland. His research focuses on nanotechnology and condensed matter physics, particularly the development of cantilever-based sensors for molecular detection and material characterization. He holds a B.Sc. from the University of Ottawa and M.Sc./Ph.D. from Dalhousie University.

• Research: Explores microcantilever sensors for detecting molecules, ions, and biomaterials. Collaborates on calixarene-functionalized surfaces and interdisciplinary projects merging physics, chemistry, and engineering.
• Lab Equipment: STM/AFM setups, sputter deposition systems, thermal evaporation chambers, and inert atmosphere gloveboxes.
• Awards: Petro-Canada Young Innovator Award (2008), CAP Best Poster Prize (2011), and multiple NSERC grants.
