Dr. Luba Sominsky is an Associate Professor in the Department of Health and Biomedical Sciences at RMIT University, located at the Bundoora West campus. Her research focuses on neuroinflammation, obesity onset in early life, perinatal programming of reproductive development, and the interplay between metabolic hormones and ovarian function. She also investigates stress and behavioral outcomes linked to immunological processes.
Research interests span Neurosciences, Paediatrics and Reproductive Medicine, Immunology, Physiology, and Zoology. Her work integrates animal models to explore mechanisms underlying neuroendocrine regulation, immune responses, and developmental programming. Notable projects include studies on maternal diet impacts on offspring health, microglial function in neurological disorders, and obesity-related inflammation in pregnancy.
Dr. Sominsky is open to supervising Masters and PhD students in relevant fields. Her research has been published in high-impact journals like Brain, Behavior, and Immunity and Journal of Neuroinflammation, with a focus on translational insights into human health.
