Associate Professor Lu Jinhua holds a BA and PhD, and currently serves in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the National University of Singapore's Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. Her research focuses on understanding molecular mechanisms of antinuclear antibodies (ANA) and developing cancer vaccines using alarmin motifs. She is affiliated with the Immunology Translational Research Programme and LSI Immunology Programme.
Her research interests include investigating how complement C1 deficiency induces ANA through alarmin motifs in the nucleolus, particularly the GAR/RGG motif which also exhibits cell-penetrating peptide activity. This discovery is being leveraged to create cancer vaccines targeting cytoplasmic MHC I pathways.
Recent work spans immunological mechanisms in diabetes, tumor microenvironment analysis, and neurodegenerative biomarkers. She holds editorial roles at the Journal of Immunology and Frontiers in Immunology, contributing to advancing immunological research and education.
Key technical contributions include nuclear scaffold extraction methods and insights into NF-κB RelB binding variations during microbial infections. Her translational focus bridges basic immunology with clinical applications in autoimmune diseases and cancer immunotherapy.
