Loïc Dupont is a University Professor at the University of Picardie Jules Verne (UPJV), serving as Director of the UPJV Electron Microscopy Platform, Head of the 3rd year of the Chemistry Bachelor's degree, and member of the Council of the Doctoral School of Science, Technology and Health. He is an alternate member of section 33 of the National Universities Council and conducts research at the Laboratoire de Réactivité et Chimie des Solides (LRCS), a CNRS-UPJV joint unit.
His academic credentials include a Doctorate in Chemistry specializing in Materials Science from LRCS (1997) under Prof. M. Figlarz and Prof. M. Touboul, a Postdoctoral position at the University of Pennsylvania (1998) with Prof. PK Davies, and Accreditation to Direct Research (Habilitation) from LRCS (2005).
Dupont's research centers on electrochemical energy storage systems with emphasis on organic/hybrid polymer materials for energy, crystal chemistry of inorganic energy materials, and electrochemical device optimization. His expertise bridges electron microscopy, crystallography, and 3D printing to advance battery technologies. Current methodologies include in-situ SEM characterization and FDM-based battery fabrication.
Analysis of his 2023-2025 publications reveals a dominant focus on solvent-free 3D printing processes for battery components, particularly monofilament electrode manufacturing and solid polymer electrolytes. His work consistently integrates computational modeling with experimental validation to address manufacturing challenges in lithium-ion systems.
He leads the ANR PRCE IODA project (2021-2025) on 3D-printed lithium-ion batteries and previously directed the REGION/FEDER OBI-ONE Project (2017-2020) for thermoplastic composite optimization. As a Doctoral School Council member, he guides PhD research while supervising master's students through his Bachelor's program leadership.
At LRCS, Dupont directs the Electron Microscopy Platform to support collaborative projects with LTI, GEMTEX, LPMC, and UCCS. His team specializes in multimodal characterization of battery interfaces using electron microscopy and in-situ techniques to accelerate materials development for next-generation energy storage.
