Loïc Bertrand is a Senior Researcher at École Normale Supérieure Paris-Saclay. He holds a PhD in Materials Science (2002, Université Pierre et Marie Curie) and a Habilitation (2012, Université Paris-Sud). His research focuses on preservation mechanisms of biological remains in archaeological/paleontological contexts, synchrotron-based imaging techniques, and advanced study of artists' materials. He has coordinated the Ancient and Heritage Materials and PAMIR sectors for the Ile-de-France Region since 2017. From 2010–2019, he directed the IPANEMA laboratory. Active in scientific governance, he served on the CNRS National Committee (2012–2016) and multiple heritage science steering committees.
