Louise Weir is Senior Lecturer in Illustration at Middlesex University's School of Design, where she serves as Programme Leader. With 25+ years as an award-winning illustrator and educator, her practice spans commercial publishing, design, advertising, and community arts engagement.
Her research explores participatory art practices, particularly with hard-to-reach communities, and sustainable outdoor creative methodologies. Recent projects include 'Expectations of the Past' (Arts Council England), which transitioned her toward authorial practice examining historical memory. She presented this work at the 7th International Illustration Symposium.
Current initiatives develop creative placemaking workshops addressing urban sustainability through the Foundation Programme For Future London residency. Collaborative practice integrates illustration with writing, poetry, and community dialogue.
