Dr. Louise Thomas is a Professor and Associate Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education and Student Success at Chapman University's College of Performing Arts, Conservatory of Music. She holds a Doctor of Music from the University of Southern California, a Master of Arts from USC, and a Bachelor of Arts from Trinity College Dublin. An internationally recognized collaborative pianist, she has performed at venues including Walt Disney Concert Hall, Tchaikovsky Conservatoire, and Beijing's Forbidden City Concert Hall.
Her research focuses on collaborative piano performance, vocal coaching, and interdisciplinary approaches to music education. She premiered Stephen McNeff's song-cycle "Ballads of a Bogman" through a Chapman Faculty Opportunity Award and co-authored a book chapter on teaching French Baroque opera across curricula.
Honors include the Béla Bartók Prize, second prize at the Ibla-Ragusa competition, and concerto competition wins. She serves as festival pianist for the Los Angeles Master Chorale's High School Festival (18+ years) and adjudicates for the Music Center Spotlight Awards.
Administratively, she directs Chapman's Keyboard Collaborative Arts program and has chaired summer programs at Luzerne Music Festival. She maintains active collaborations with violinist Elizabeth Pitcairn and the TiLT Ensemble.
