Louise Sime is a climate scientist and earth system modeller affiliated with the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Cambridge. She leads a 40-person interdisciplinary team focused on Ice Dynamics and Paleoclimate, contributing to projects like EU-P2F, EU-TiPES, EU-ANTSIE, EU-DEEPICE, and SWAIS2C. Her work integrates ice core measurements with numerical methods to enhance climate models, particularly the UKESM, and investigate dynamics during past and current warm climates.
Research interests include:
- Developing UKESM to incorporate ice core data for improved climate simulations
- Analyzing abrupt sea ice loss through the CMIP7 FastTrack protocol
- Studying West Antarctic Ice Sheet stability in warm climate scenarios
- Interglacial climate dynamics and land-atmosphere interactions
She coordinates projects like SURFEIT (Antarctic surface fluxes) and fosters international collaborations. Her team provides structured PhD student and postdoctoral researcher support via bi-weekly meetings.
