Louise Burton

Louise Burton is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Allied Health Professions, part of the College of Health, Wellbeing and Life Sciences at Sheffield Hallam University. She holds qualifications including PgC, PgC, and BSc (HONS). Her expertise spans diagnostic radiography, image interpretation, anatomy, physiology, and patient care. She is completing a PhD investigating non-medical professionals' radiation risk education to improve referrals and reduce stochastic side effects like cancer. Additionally, she specializes in forensic radiography, focusing on non-accidental injury, mass fatality imaging, and disaster victim identification (DVI).

She teaches across undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including BSc Diagnostic Radiography, MSc Enhanced Diagnostic Imaging Practice, and BSc Degree Apprenticeships. Her roles include module leadership for musculoskeletal image interpretation, abdominal imaging, and complexity in practice modules. She actively supervises Master’s students’ dissertations and serves as Secretary for the UK branch of the International Association of Forensic Radiographers.

Louise has over 20 years of NHS experience, presenting at national/international conferences and advocating for patient-centered education and interprofessional collaboration in healthcare.
