Louisa Martin-Chevalier is a Lecturer in Musicology at Sorbonne University, teaching History of Music and 20th-Century Analysis. Her research focuses on Russian avant-garde music, gender issues, and musical creation in Eastern/Central Europe from the 20th century to the present. She leads two major CNRS-funded projects: "Ukrainian Female Musicians and Migrations" and "A Subaltern That Sings: Musical Diplomacy in Wartime Ukraine".

Her research spans musical institutions, conductorless orchestras, and music's role in political movements. She co-organizes international seminars like Building Relationships in a Changing World and coordinates the GeMM seminar on gender in music. Recent publications analyze Ukrainian wartime compositions, communal music in the USSR, and political symbolism in Soviet works.
Dr. Martin-Chevalier collaborates with institutions across France, Ukraine, and the Czech Republic. She has organized concerts, film scores, and exhibitions linking music to social justice, including works by female composers from Croatia and Ukraine. She also mentors students through the Filigrane journal and postdoctoral seminars.
