Dr. Louis Strange is a Lecturer in Sociolinguistics at the University of Glasgow's School of English Language and Linguistics. He completed his PhD at Queen Mary University of London in 2022, funded by the ESRC’s LISS DTP. His doctoral research focused on linguistic landscapes and debates around abortion legalization in Ireland, examining intersections of gender, national identity, and language ideologies in campaign signage. His research interests include sociolinguistics, multimodal discourse analysis, and the sociopolitical dimensions of language use. He employs critical discourse analysis, corpus methods, and multimodal approaches to study language’s role in gender, national identity, and political economy.
