Louis M. Weiss is a Professor at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, holding dual appointments in the Departments of Pathology and Medicine (Infectious Diseases). He serves as Vice Chair for Academic Affairs and Research in the Department of Pathology and Co-Director of the Einstein Global Health Center. His expertise spans parasitology and global health, with a focus on Toxoplasma gondii and microsporidia. Dr. Weiss earned his MD and MPH from Johns Hopkins University, followed by residency at the University of Chicago and an infectious diseases fellowship at Einstein Montefiore.
His research investigates Toxoplasma cyst wall composition, microsporidian polar tube function, and host-pathogen interactions. He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed articles and co-edited multiple books, including Toxoplasma gondii: The Model Apicomplexan. Dr. Weiss is a Fellow of prominent academic societies and was honored with the Leo M. Davidoff Society for teaching excellence.
