Louis Dautais is a PhD Student affiliated with Paul-Valéry Montpellier 3 University (UPVM3) and Catholic University of Louvain (UCLouvain), working on Egyptology and Aegean Protohistory. His research focuses on intercultural interactions in the Eastern Mediterranean during the Bronze Age, particularly between Egypt, the Aegean, Levant, and Cyprus. He is associated with research units ASM-UMR 5140 and CEMA-INCAL.
- PhD Project: Egypt and the Aegean World (17th-12th c. BCE) – a global, diachronic approach.
- Supervisors: Dr. Charlotte Langohr (UCLouvain) and Dr. Marc Gabolde (UPVM3).
Research Interests include:
- Polymorphic interactions between Egypt and its neighbors during the Late Bronze Age
- Political history of the Second Intermediate Period and New Kingdom
- Historiography of Egyptian-Aegean studies
- Egyptian archaeology since the 19th century
Articles highlight his work on maritime connections, material culture exchanges, and administrative practices between Egypt and the Aegean. His 2021 ENiM article analyzes Cretan-type boats in Egyptian records, while forthcoming works examine wood trade and wine production in Ptolemaic Mareotide.
