Louis Chude-Sokei is a Professor of English and George and Joyce Wein Chair in African American Studies at Boston University, directing its African American Studies Program. He holds a B.A. and Ph.D. in English from UCLA. His work bridges literary scholarship, sound art, and technology, focusing on race, diaspora, and Afrofuturism.

Research interests include Black technopoetics, diasporic sound cultures, and the intersection of race with technology. His books, such as The Sound of Culture (2015) and Floating in A Most Peculiar Way (2021), explore these themes. He co-founded Echolocution, a sonic art project, and curated sound installations like "Sometimes You Just Have to Give it Your Attention" (2020, Kulturstiftung Des Bundes Award).
Award-winning collaborations include work with Bill T. Jones, Mouse on Mars, and Carnegie Hall’s Afrofuturism Festival. Current projects include advising the Guggenheim Museum’s Art and Technology Initiative. His forthcoming book Machines of Flesh and Blood (2026) examines race in AI development.
