Louis BHERER is a Full Professor in the Department of Medicine at the Université de Montréal and Associate Scientific Director of the Prevention Department at the Montreal Heart Institute (EPIC Centre). He also directs a laboratory at the Institut universitaire de gériatrie de Montréal. His research focuses on cognitive and physical interventions to improve brain health, mobility, and executive functions in aging populations, emphasizing the impact of physical activity, neuroplasticity, and cardiovascular health.
Dr. BHERER holds a PhD in neuropsychology from Université de Montréal and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in cognitive neuroscience at the Beckman Institute (University of Illinois). He has been awarded prestigious research chairs, including the Canada Research Chair and two philanthropic chairs dedicated to cardiovascular health and cognitive decline prevention.
His work spans interdisciplinary projects in gerontology, neurology, and cardiology, with a strong emphasis on translating research into clinical and community settings. Key research areas include: cognitive aging, neurodegenerative diseases, and the role of lifestyle interventions in maintaining brain health.
