Lotte Rose

Lotte Rose is a Professor of Pedagogy of Child and Youth Work at Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences, Department 4: Social Work & Health. She has been active in the field since 1997 and specializes in gender studies, childhood research, fat studies, and human-animal interactions within social work.

• Founded and leads the national research network on animal issues in social work (since 2019)
• Member of the DFG research network on Fat Studies (2018–2022)
• Co-developer of the essenpaed food pedagogy network (since 2014)

Her research spans ethnographic studies of school mealtimes, breastfeeding practices, and the gendered dynamics of consumption and care. She has advised multiple PhD candidates in the Promotionszentrum Soziale Arbeit, focusing on diversity, precarious living conditions, and institutional norms.

Lotte Rose's practical experience includes roles at the Association for Promoting Movement and Sports-Oriented Youth Social Work (bsj) in Marburg and extensive work in BA/MA Social Work programs. She has conducted funded projects on infant nutrition, gender equality, and food pedagogy since the 1990s.
