Lotte Janssens is a Research Professor leading the Lumbopelvic Pain Lab within REVAL (Rehabilitation Research) at University of Hasselt (UHasselt). Her work focuses on understanding and improving treatments for lower back pain, pregnancy-related lumbopelvic pain, and post-surgical complications. Key research areas include biomechanical factors (breathing patterns, postural control), psychological influences, and optimizing physiotherapy interventions.
Research Priorities:
- Evaluating novel physiotherapy approaches: Direct access to physiotherapy, preoperative rehabilitation pathways, high-intensity exercise therapy
- Biomechanical mechanisms: Proprioception, muscle activation patterns, diaphragm function's role in pain
- Economic analyses: Cost-effectiveness of integrated rehabilitation protocols for spinal surgery
- Cross-cultural healthcare studies: Physiotherapy models in Belgium and occupational health in Pakistan
Funding Needs: Actively seeking financial support to accelerate clinical trials and therapy validation. Donation details provided via university fund accounts.
Collaborations: Works with multidisciplinary teams including surgeons, psychologists, and occupational researchers. Engages in international projects through systematic reviews and cross-cultural studies.
