Lotte Anemaet

Lotte Anemaet is an Assistant Professor in Intellectual Property Law at the Faculty of Law of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. She holds multiple academic roles including affiliations with the Kooijmans Institute, Law & Technology, and Law, Markets and Behavior. Her expertise lies in EU trademark law, focusing on the interplay between normative legal frameworks and empirical consumer behavior analysis. She completed her PhD in 2021 with a dissertation addressing the tension between trademark rights and consumer perception in EU law. Anemaet teaches courses such as Intellectual Property, Design and Branding, and supervises bachelor and master theses. Her research emphasizes balancing trademark protection with market competition and consumer choice, advocating for normative corrections in legal assessments.
