Lorraine Gutierrez

Lorraine Gutierrez is the Arthur F Thurnau Professor of Psychology and Social Work at the University of Michigan. She holds affiliations with the School of Social Work, the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies, and the International Institute. Her research focuses on community practice, diversity in social work education, LGBTQ+ advocacy, multicultural group dynamics, and empowerment strategies for marginalized populations.

Dr. Gutierrez earned her PhD in Social Work from the University of Michigan. Her work bridges theoretical contributions with practical applications, emphasizing the integration of research into social work training programs.
