Lorraine Elliott

Lorraine Elliott is a Professor in the Department of International Relations at the ANU College of Asia & the Pacific, Australian National University. Her research focuses on regional environmental governance in Southeast Asia, climate security, human security in the Asia Pacific, and transnational environmental crime. She holds a PhD from ANU and degrees from the University of Auckland.

Research Interests: Elliott’s work addresses climate migration, food security, and the intersection of global ethics with environmental policy. She leads a collaborative project on climate migration with Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and has received a three-year Australian Research Council Linkage Grant for research on transnational environmental crime.

Affiliations & Grants: She is affiliated with the ARC Centre of Excellence in Policing and Security, the Climate and Environmental Governance Network, and the University of Warwick’s Centre for the Study of Globalisation and Regionalisation. Recent grants include the ARC Linkage Grant (2019–2022) for transnational environmental crime research.

Professional Activities: Elliott completed a three-year term on the Board of Directors of the Academic Council of the United Nations System (ACUNS) and contributes to policy outreach through ANU’s Institute for Climate, Energy & Disaster Solutions.
