Dr. Lorraine Cherney is an Honorary Research Fellow at the School of Political Science and International Studies, The University of Queensland. Her work spans gambling regulation, public value frameworks, and countering violent extremism (CVE), with a focus on policy design and implementation.

Cherney’s scholarship explores regulatory governance, emphasizing the role of non-state actors and state-level gambling policy enforcement. She investigates how public values shape administrative decisions in pluralistic environments, advocating for agonistic approaches in complex settings. Her CVE research includes data collection manuals and evaluation indicators, funded by the Department of Home Affairs.
