Dr. Abdi Hersi is a Knowledge Management and Learning Expert at the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) and an affiliate researcher at Griffith University's Griffith Centre for Social and Cultural Research. He holds a PhD from Griffith University's School of Humanities, Languages and Social Sciences, alongside a Master's in International Relations (University of Queensland) and a Bachelor's in Human Resource Management (Queensland University of Technology). His research focuses on migration sociology, terrorism, CVE strategies, and the sociocultural impacts of khat use. He has extensive experience in Australian Public Service roles within immigration and border protection, and has led major research projects like the Commonwealth-funded 'Reporting Islam' initiative.
