Lorraine Bedwell

Dr. Lorraine Bedwell is a Lecturer in Sports Management at Manchester Metropolitan University's Department of People and Performance within the Institute of Sport. She holds advanced qualifications including a PhD from Manchester Metropolitan University, where her research focused on organizational culture in professional sports, notably through the lens of Liverpool Football Club. Her expertise spans sports business management, digital learning strategy implementation, and promoting inclusion in sports through her role at Access Sport. She currently leads units on Global Sports Sponsorship and Managing Sports Organizations.

Her research interests include organizational culture transformation, identity formation, barriers to sports participation, and EDI initiatives. As Department DELTA Lead, she coordinates digital learning strategies with the Faculty Digital and AI Enhanced Learning Lead and the Faculty Director of Education. She has contributed to high-profile studies such as the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup's socio-cultural impact and grassroots football initiatives in Liverpool.

Her recent media engagements include analyses of Liverpool's grassroots tournaments and their economic/social impacts, reflecting her commitment to connecting academic research with real-world applications. She currently supervises Chris Maxwell's thesis on elite Premier League football club cultures.
