Lorna Burns is a Senior Lecturer in Postcolonial Literatures at the School of English, University of St Andrews. Her work bridges postcolonial theory, Caribbean writing, and continental philosophy, focusing on intersections between literature and philosophy. She contributes to the Centre for the Critical Reimagining of Human Rights and the Centre for the Receptions of Antiquity.

Her research explores postcolonial literatures, contemporary world literature, and philosophies of Deleuze, Latour, and Rancière. Current projects address rights, recognition, and equality in postcolonial contexts, challenging poststructuralist frameworks. She also examines aesthetics and politics in globalization, postcolonialism, and world literature theories.
Key publications include Postcolonialism After World Literature: Relation, Equality, Dissent (2019) and Contemporary Caribbean Writing and Deleuze (2012), alongside co-edited collections and articles in Angelaki, Deleuze Studies, and Textual Practice. She teaches courses on postcolonial literatures, Caribbean literature, and world literature.
