Lori White serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Microbiology at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. Her academic office is located in Lipman Hall, Room 128 at 76 Lipman Drive, New Brunswick, NJ, and she can be contacted via lori.white@rutgers.edu or 848-932-5605. She teaches specialized courses including Biochemistry of Cancer (11:115:421), Molecular Toxicology Lab (11:115:436), and Biochemical Communications (11:115:491).
Dr. White's research program investigates the aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) signaling pathway with emphasis on its regulatory functions in cell adhesion, extracellular matrix metabolism, and tissue remodeling processes. Her work explores critical intersections between AhR and retinoic acid signaling pathways, providing mechanistic insights into developmental biology and disease pathogenesis, particularly in environmental toxicology and cancer contexts. She employs the zebrafish (Danio rerio) model system to elucidate molecular mechanisms of tissue dynamics.
Analysis of her 2006-2009 publications reveals consistent investigation of AhR's multifaceted roles in matrix regulation and developmental processes. Her research demonstrates how environmental factors modulating AhR activity influence cellular adhesion properties and metabolic pathways, with significant implications for understanding toxicant-induced developmental abnormalities and disease mechanisms. These studies bridge fundamental biochemical principles with translational applications in environmental health and oncology.
