Lori Pile is a Professor and Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies at Wayne State University's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, affiliated with the Biological Sciences Department. Her research focuses on epigenetic control of gene expression, particularly investigating the SIN3 histone-modifying complex's role in chromatin structure and transcriptional regulation. She holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics from the University of Cincinnati Medical School (1998).
- Education: Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics, Biochemistry and Microbiology, University of Cincinnati Medical School, 1998
Her research addresses how genome packaging via histone modifications affects gene expression in development and disease, with applications to cancer and neurodegenerative disorders. Using Drosophila and human cancer models, her lab explores SIN3's role in epigenetic signaling cascades critical for cell proliferation and viability.
Recent publications (2020-2025) highlight work linking SIN3 to metabolism, cancer metastasis, and neurodegenerative disease modeling. She teaches Science Advocacy and Public Engagement and has mentored lab alumni pursuing academic, industry, and medical careers.
