Lori McVay serves as Program Director for the Centra Heart and Vascular Institute Fellowship Programs in Lynchburg, Virginia, and maintains an adjunct faculty position at the University of Lynchburg School of Medicine. Her career centers on advancing cardiovascular medicine through clinical practice and specialized fellowship training.
Her educational foundation was built at Shenandoah University's Division of Physician Assistant Studies, where she earned her degree in 2009 after being deeply impressed by the program's facilities and community during her interview process. A pivotal experience included a medical mission trip to Nicaragua that solidified her clinical application skills.
McVay's research and professional focus revolves around developing advanced training systems for physician assistants in cardiovascular care. She created the nine-month General Cardiology PA Fellowship program to bridge the gap between academic training and specialized clinical practice, emphasizing mentorship to cultivate future leaders in cardiovascular patient care. Her work integrates clinical practice improvement methodologies with hands-on patient management across inpatient and outpatient settings.
