Lori Brown is a Distinguished Professor at Syracuse University School of Architecture with a courtesy appointment at the College of Law, teaching since 2001. Her practice spans traditional architecture and socio-political spaces, focusing on how design impacts marginalized communities. She holds a B.S. from Georgia Institute of Technology and M.Arch from Princeton University.
Brown's research explores intersections of architecture, feminist theory, and spatial justice. She investigates legislative impacts on healthcare facilities, shelters, and gendered environments through ethnographic and design-based methodologies. Her work advances equitable spatial practices and institutional transformation.
Publications analyze politicized spaces through feminist frameworks, examining power dynamics in healthcare access, domestic violence infrastructure, and architectural pedagogy. Her scholarship integrates urban geography, policy studies, and community engagement.
