Lori A. Barker

Dr. Lori A. Barker is a Professor of Psychology at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona), affiliated with the College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from Yale University and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from UCLA, followed by a postdoctoral research fellowship at UCLA funded by the National Institute of Mental Health.

Her research focuses on multicultural psychology, including multicultural attitudes, diversity training effectiveness, and psychological impacts of political representation. She co-authored a leading undergraduate textbook Multicultural Psychology and authored Obama on Our Minds, examining the psychological effects of Barack Obama's presidency. Dr. Barker maintains a private clinical practice emphasizing culturally sensitive therapy and serves as a diversity consultant for organizations.

Professional honors include Western Psychological Association's Outstanding Teaching Award, Jose A. Gomez Faculty Excellence Award, and recognition as Diversity Champion at Cal Poly Pomona. She previously served as WPA President and remains an active Psi Chi advisor.
