Dr. Lorgia García Peña is a Professor at Princeton University's Effron Center for the Study of America and Department of African American Studies, and Director of the Program in Latino Studies. Her work focuses on race, colonialism, and Afro-Latinx studies. She holds a Ph.D. in American Culture from the University of Michigan, an M.A. in Latin American and Latino Literatures from Rutgers University, and a B.A. from Rutgers.
Her research examines anti-Blackness, xenophobia, and marginalized communities, with publications including Translating Blackness (2022), Community as Rebellion (2022), and The Borders of Dominicanidad (2016). She co-founded Freedom University Georgia, providing education to undocumented students, and co-directs Archives of Justice, a digital archive centering Black, queer, and migrant lives.
