Dr. Lacerda's research spans multiple dimensions of precision agriculture, including:
- Thermal imaging and vegetation indices for crop water stress detection
- Hyperspectral analysis for aflatoxin contamination monitoring
- Deep learning applications in yield estimation and plant segmentation
- Machine learning modeling for nitrogen and irrigation optimization
- Geostatistical approaches to soil-crop variability analysis
- Integration of UAV and satellite data for field-scale agricultural decision-making
Her recent publications demonstrate increasing sophistication in combining sensor technologies with advanced analytics to address agricultural challenges across corn, cotton, and peanut systems in the southeastern United States. The work emphasizes both theoretical development and practical implementation of precision agriculture solutions.
