Loren Martin

Loren Martin is an Associate Professor at the University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) campus, affiliated with the Department of Psychology. His research focuses on behavioral neuroscience, particularly how painful experiences alter neural circuits and transmitter/peptide systems related to sensory, emotional, social, and cognitive processes.

Research Interests:

• Investigating chronic pain's impact on synaptic transmission in distinct neural networks
• Exploring neuropeptides (oxytocin, opioids) in pain empathy and social behavior
• Studying learning mechanisms in pain-anxiety interactions and pain relief
• Identifying neural circuits encoding negative affective states in chronic pain
