Loren Kaake is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Physics at Simon Fraser University (SFU), with an affiliation in the Chemistry department. His research focuses on the Physical Chemistry of Materials and Organic Optoelectronics, particularly exploring the fundamental properties of organic semiconductors, optoelectronic materials, and their applications in sensors, solar cells, and transistors. His experimental work combines light and electrical techniques to study nanoscale phenomena in materials.
Dr. Kaake's lab investigates charge transport, ion dynamics, and material morphologies, with a focus on supercritical fluid deposition techniques and the development of advanced optoelectronic devices. His interdisciplinary approach bridges physics, chemistry, and materials science to push the boundaries of next-generation organic electronic materials.
Key research themes include organic heterojunctions, mixed ionic/electronic conductors, and the role of solvent additives in polymer crystallization. His work has been published in high-impact journals such as Journal of Materials Chemistry, Chemistry of Materials, and ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces.
