Loren Collingwood

Loren Collingwood is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of New Mexico (UNM), directing the Departmental Honors Program. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Washington (2012) and a B.A. from California State University, Chico. His research focuses on American politics, race and ethnic politics, particularly Latino politics and immigration policy.

Key works include Sanctuary Cities: The Politics of Refuge (2019, Oxford University Press) and Campaigning in a Racially Diversifying America (2020, Oxford University Press). His work examines topics such as electoral mobilization, immigrant detention policies, and the influence of demographic shifts on political dynamics. Collingwood’s research employs innovative methodologies, including Bayesian geocoding for analyzing racially polarized voting.
