Professor Lorelle Burton is a distinguished academic and administrator at the University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ), serving as Dean and Head of the School of Psychology and Wellbeing, and Associate Provost. With over 29 years of experience as a psychologist, she is recognized for her contributions to psychology education, community engagement, and student well-being. She holds qualifications including a PhD from USQ and has authored influential textbooks in psychology, including a leading Australian first-year text with Indigenous-led chapters. Her leadership roles include Chair of the Heads of Departments and Schools of Psychology Association (HODSPA), where she collaborates with national organizations to strengthen Australia's mental health workforce.
Her research focuses on student transitions, community-based learning, and marginalized youth, with projects funded through national committees and grants. Notable areas include social capital in rural communities, mental health interventions for youth, and flexible schooling models. She has received multiple teaching excellence awards for her innovative pedagogical approaches.
