Lora LABARERE

Lora LABARERE is a PhD student and ATER (temporary teaching and research associate) in the Anthropology Department at Toulouse - Jean Jaurès University. She is affiliated with the Interdisciplinary Laboratory for Solidarity, Societies, Territories (LISST). Her academic work focuses on the memorial practices of people identifying as descendants of Béarnais, Basques, and French in the Rio de la Plata region of Argentina and Uruguay.

Her research interests include:

• Anthropology of memory and memorial practices
• Migration studies and post-migration contexts
• Kinship studies and "elective" filiation
• Transatlantic studies and knowledge circulation
• Fieldwork methodology and ethics, particularly regarding gender-based violence

LABARERE has presented her research at numerous international conferences and study days across Europe and Latin America, focusing on the intersection of memory, migration, and identity formation among descendants of French migrants. Her work examines how individuals reconstruct family histories through archival research, genealogical work, and "roots tourism," while navigating national narratives and personal identities.

She has taught various courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, including:
