Loni Walker

Loni Walker is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Biology Department at Illinois Wesleyan University (IWU). She specializes in Plant Science, with a focus on growth and developmental processes in plants and moss.

Research Interests:
Dr. Walker investigates how environmental factors like light and gravity influence plant growth and development. Her work employs physiological, molecular, genetic, and cellular techniques, including mutagenesis, molecular cloning, and plant growth regulator analysis in Ceratodon purpureus moss.

Scientific Awards:
• National Science Foundation Post Doctoral Fellow in Plant Science (1994–1999)

Teaching:
She teaches General Biology (BIOL101), Plant Anatomy and Physiology (BIOL 315), Topics in Cell Biology (BIOL 330), Cell Biology (BIOL 340), and Topics in Plant Biology (BIOL 375).

Dr. Walker supervises student research projects examining the effects of light, gravity, and growth regulators on moss protonemata development at IWU.
