Longfei Xing is a Lecturer in the Department of Modern Chinese Studies at the University of Cologne. She is currently working on her doctoral dissertation titled “Western Students in China in the 1970s: Policies and Education”. From 2014 to 2015, she served as a Chinese language instructor at the Confucius Institute Nürnberg-Erlangen. Since 2012, she has also taught Chinese as a foreign language at the Beijing Language and Culture University. She holds a Master’s degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages from Beijing Language and Culture University (2014).
Her research focuses on Chinese foreign policy, China’s international student education policies, and the didactics of Chinese as a foreign language. She presented her work “Western Students in China in the 1970s (Project Introduction)” at an international workshop at the University of Freiburg in 2017. Her publications include studies on mother tongue usage in language pedagogy and the cognitive semantics of Chinese body nouns.
