Loki Snyman is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Veterinary Microbiology and serves as the Curator of Invertebrate Zoology at the Royal Alberta Museum in Edmonton. Originally from South Africa, he completed postgraduate studies focusing on insect taxonomy and systematics. His research emphasizes haematophagous arthropods, vector biology, and the role of insects in pathogen transmission. Current projects include mosquito systematics, spatiotemporal distribution of mosquitoes in Canada, molecular markers for tick identification, and horsefly evolution and disease ecology.
His multidisciplinary work bridges foundational biodiversity research with public engagement, particularly in lacewing biology and diversity. Dr. Snyman’s interests span medical and veterinary entomology, systematics, and applied vector research.
