Liz Vecchio is a Research Fellow in the Department of Pharmacology at Monash University, affiliated with the Victorian Heart Institute (VHI). Her work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to good health and well-being. She specializes in G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) pharmacology, focusing on biased agonism mechanisms and their applications in cardioprotective therapies.
- Affiliations: Victorian Heart Institute (VHI), Monash University
- Key Research Areas: Formyl peptide receptors, adenosine receptors, GPCR signaling, drug development
Her research investigates biased agonists targeting formyl peptide receptors (FPR1/FPR2) for myocardial infarction treatment and explores novel GPCR-targeted therapeutics for heart failure. Recent projects include advancing preclinical development of FPR1 biased agonists and designing cardioprotective agents.
Publications highlight contributions to understanding FPR2 signaling, adenosine A2B receptor pharmacology, and biased agonist design. Her work bridges basic science and translational medicine, with implications for cardiovascular drug discovery.
Liz leads the 2020-2028 project on formyl peptide receptor biased agonists and collaborates on major initiatives like the Advancing Preclinical Development of GPCR-targeted Therapeutics for Heart Failure (2023-2026).
