Professor Liz Mossop is the Vice-Chancellor of Sheffield Hallam University, serving as the chief executive and senior academic officer since January 2024. She oversees the university’s strategic vision, academic performance, financial strategy, and student/staff experience. Previously, she held leadership roles at the University of Lincoln (Provost, Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor, and Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Student Engagement) and the University of Nottingham (Professor of Veterinary Education and senior leadership in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences).
Her academic background includes a veterinary surgery career and a graduate degree from the University of Edinburgh. She is actively involved in veterinary accreditation, serving as Vice Chair of the European Veterinary Accreditation Committee and contributing to the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. Additionally, she is a member of the Teaching Excellence Framework panel and a Board member of Nottingham College.
Professor Mossop’s research and professional contributions focus on veterinary education and higher education leadership. Her 2016 National Teaching Fellowship highlights her dedication to educational excellence. She continues to advocate for interdisciplinary collaboration and institutional advancement in academia.
